Q. What is the theme this year?

There is no theme for 2019. Participants may choose an effective ministry topic of their choice.

Q. What is kappa tau?

A. Kappa Tau is a discipleship tool of the Assemblies of God designed to help students continue discovering and developing their ministry gifts after they have graduated from high school and are no longer eligible for the Fine Arts Festival. Through this Festival, college-aged participants are given the opportunity to continue developing their ministry gifts by having their entries evaluated by qualified professionals, teachers and ministers who encourage excellence and offer ideas for improvement.  Specific information developed for the Kappa Tau portion of the festival including a Kappa Tau rule book can be found at kappatau.ag.org

Q. where can I get promo videos and other materials to help encourage my students to participate?

A. Promo videos and other promo material are available online at www.ilsmonline.com and are also available at www.faf.ag.org.

Q. When and how are Writing entries to be turned in?

A. ALL WRITING DIVISION ENTRIES will be judged at the event.  All entries must be brought to the event no later than 9:00 AM on 4/6/19.

Q. When and how should my short film & promo video entries be submitted?

A. ALL SHORT FILMS and PROMO VIDEOS will be judged at the festival.  These entries must be submitted no later than 9:00 AM on 4/6/19 at the festival. Bring your Short Film or Promo Video to the festival on a USB flash drive (MP4 format preferred) in an envelope with the student’s first name, last name, church name, city, and state.

Q. When does my artwork have to be submitted?

A. ALL ART DIVISION ENTRIES must be brought to the Art Check-in area at the event no later than 9:00 AM on  4/6/19 with the required typed information page. Please DO NOT mail art entries.

Q. When should by artwork be picked up?

A. ALL ART DIVISION ENTRIES must be picked up from the art exhibit room by 6 PM.

Q. I have a scheduling request. What do I do?

A. ISM reserves the right to schedule you at any time during the festival.  However, we are aware that there are situations which may require special attention.  Please submit

ALL special scheduling requests in writing with your original registration form.  We will do our best to accommodate your needs. This option is not available solely to meet your preferences.  Please make sure your requests are valid and important.

Q. how can I find out how my performance will be evaluated?

A. Every category has specific information detailed in the official 2019 Fine Arts rule booklet.  Additional evaluation criteria can be found at www.faf.ag.org/evaluationcriteria.cfm  Illinois follows the rules set forth by the National Office.

Q. how do I get another copy of the rule book?

A. Download a copy from the Fine Arts web site at www.faf.ag.org/rules.cfm  (a link to this also available on our website www.ilsmonline.org/events/fine‐arts)

Q. What do I do if I receive a “Superior with invitation” level in my category?

A.  If you receive a rating of Superior with Invitation or Advance, you are officially invited to attend the National Fine Arts Festival in Orlando, Florida.  Your church leader will receive registration information with your award certificate. National registration information is also available online at www.faf.ag.org .  Online registration is available for National Fine Arts through June 7, 2019 at http://oralando19/ag.org/.  You are not required to attend the National Festival.

Q. When and where is the National fine arts festival going to be held?

A. The 2019 National Fine Arts Festival will be held in Orlando, Florida on July 30th – Aug 3rd.   For more information, visit www.faf.ag.org.

Q. what should I bring?

A. Music for you or your students to rehearse with, original music and copies. For any presentation requiring audio, only digital MP3 recordings are permitted. MP3 format is preferred. Art Entries, Writing Entries, Short Film and Promo Video Entries, dress clothes and shoes, sewing kit, safety pins, food money, and any late registration fees you may owe.

Q. will the schedule be available prior to the festival?

A. Yes.  The schedule will be posted on the ISM website (www.ilsmonline.com/events/fine-arts) by Wednesday, April 3, 2019.

Credit line requirements are expanded.
Multi panel entries are not permitted.

American Sign Language Group and Solo
Introductory comments must include signing all comments.

Children’s Lesson Group and Solo
The child audience age range is adjusted.

Promo Video
The definition is changed.
Delivery instructions have changed.

Puppetry Group and Solo
The child audience age range is adjusted.
The stage rules are clarified.

Short Film
Delivery instructions have changed.

Short Sermon
Setup and tear down times are changed to 60 seconds for setup and 60 seconds for tear down.
Handheld visual aid specifics are clarified.

Dramatized Quoting
The introductory comments rule is adjusted.

Percussion Solo, Traditional
The introductory comments rule is adjusted.

Percussion, Unconventional
Setup and tear down times are changed to 2 1/2 minutes for setup and 2 1/2 minutes for tear down.
The introductory comments rule has been adjusted.

Vocal Division
Only drummers in Christian Band and Worship Team are permitted to use in-ear metronomes.

Worship Team
The number of vocalists required is adjusted for Worship Team, Small.

Writing Division
The NFAF delivery instructions are changed. All writing entries will be submitted the morning of the event.

Creative Nonfiction/Memoir
The category name is changed to First Person Essay.

Mini Saga
The definition is changed.

Photography, Mobile is a new category in the Art Division.

Mini Saga, Promo Video, and Stand-Up Comedy are official Fine Arts categories and no longer in the Exhibition Division.

For Non-Participants Attending Fine Arts Festival:

There is no longer a separate PDF registration form for non‐participants, HOWEVER, we DO still need to know how many additional attendees (those who are not registered participants) will be at this event.
